Amanda J. Mooney

Amanda MoProfile Pictureoney, nee Amanda McLaughlin, is a Founding Partner with the firm focusing primarily on US and international intellectual property and corporate matters, including business formation and compliance, brand protection, advertising and media law (sweepstakes compliance, website terms and privacy policies,  copy review), trademark prosecution and enforcement, international portfolio management, copyright protection and domain name disputes.  Amanda has a great deal of experience in the consumer goods sector and has served as outside general counsel to Too Faced Cosmetics for a number of years now.

Amanda is also adept at negotiating and drafting a wide range of corporate contracts, including license agreements, endorsement agreements, sponsorship agreements, agency agreements (software, creative, media, public relations and event production) and agreements related to artists, musicians and commercial photographers. Amanda’s experience in the business sector as Counsel, Legal and Business Affairs at Boost Mobile, a subsidiary of Sprint, affords her a well versed sensibility that benefits her clients.

Amanda is keenly familiar with the changing landscape of advertising and media law and has been featured in numerous publications on the legal challenges presented by social media and the internet. Her passion for apparel and beauty products has rendered Amanda an excellent fit as legal counsel for various up and coming brands. Amanda also enjoys working with the action sports sector, a field she grew particularly comfortable with while handling sponsorships and endorsements for Boost Mobile.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Amanda graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science where she received Eleanor Roosevelt College Provost’s Honors. Amanda obtained her Juris Doctorate at the University of San Diego, School of Law and obtained a Diploma in International and Comparative Law at Magdalen College, Oxford University.  She is an adjunct professor of law at Whittier Law School teaching an advanced course in Copyright Law.

Amanda was selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015; a distinction awarded to just 1.5% of attorneys in the state.  She has also been named as one of the top Southern California female attorneys by Los Angeles Magazine and Orange Coast Magazine in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
